Brand Development

Problem

To develop a brand identity that could live up to the beauty and elegance of Acura's most highly sought after luxury and sport vehicles. Their previous brand felt more like club icon than a dealership selling luxury vehicels.

Approach

From colors to curves to the selection of typography, it was all inspired by Acura's NSX sports car. The logo speaks to sophistication, speed, and luxury with a hint of ostentatiousness. Much of the brand collateral presented was used as proof of concept and was not produced.

Acura of Bellevue, a local car dealership, presented a problem in their branding. Their audience became confused by the design of their logo and often mistook them for a dance club or a techno DJ. They wanted the brand to represent the high-end vehicles they sold. They also needed their new brand to be relevant and memorable that would resonate with a younger audience. Much of the design and aesthetic comes from the clean lines and smooth shapes found on Acura's high performance vehicles. The color shouts attention while to design holds the customer's attention.
